Sigmund Abeles (1934 - )
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Sigmund Abeles is an American artist and art educator. Abeles taught art for 27 years at various institutions including Swain School of Design, Wellesley College, Boston University, the National Academy, and the Art Students League of New York. He is currently Professor Emeritus at the University of New Hampshire, and is the recipient of numerous grants and awards for printmaking, drawing, painting, and sculpture. His work can be found in many public institutions including the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, Art Institute of Chicago, Metropolitan Museum of Art, Philadelphia Museum of Art, and the Whitney Museum of American Art.
