Friedrich Meckseper (1936 - )
Painter and printmaker Friedrich Meckseper was born in Bremen, Germany. In 1952, he began his studies at the State Academy for Visual Arts in Stuttgart under Karl Rössing, and at the College of Visual Arts in Berlin from 1957-59 under Wolf Hoffmann and produced his first engravings during this period. His work, characterized by a highly precise, minimalistic arrangements of its constituent elements, has received numerous awards. Meckseper was guest professor at the Comprehensive College in Wuppertal, and led its Engraving class (1977-79). He lives and works in Berlin.
