Albert F. Bellows (1829 - 1883)
The noted painter Albert Bellows was a member of the Hudson River School. Born in Milford, Massachusetts, he first studied architecture and established his practice in Boston with partner John Towle, but turned to painting and taught at the New England School of Design in Boston, followed by study in Paris, Antwerp, and London. He exhibited at the National Academy of Design, becoming a full member in 1861. Bellows became a proficient etcher and joined the New York Etching Club. He taught at Cooper Union before moving to Auburndale, Massachusetts, where he died.
