Albert James Webb (1891 – 1975)
Painter, etcher, and lithographer Albert Webb was born and died in New York City. He studied at the Art Students’ League and in the early years of his career Webb was principally a painter. With the advent of the Great Depression, he found employment as a printmaker in the New York branch of the W.P.A. artists’ project, and it was during this period, ca. 1935 – 1940 that Webb produced etchings and lithographs, depicting everyday life in the great city.
