Charles Oglesby Longabaugh (1885 - 1944)
Born in Grayslake, Illinois, water colorist and printmaker Charles Oglesby Longabaugh studied at Wheaton College and at the Art Institute of Chicago. He traveled extensively throughout Mexico and the American Southwest. He is best known as a regionalist landscape painter and etcher. Longabaugh died at Libertyville, Illinois.

Drypoint, ca. 1925; edition of 50. Image size 6-15/16” x 4-15/16”; sheet size 8½” x 5-7/8”. Titled, numbered, and signed in pencil by the artist in the lower margin. A beautiful,richly inked impression in overall fine condition. There is a slit approximately 5" long about parallel to the lower edge of the sheet and well away from the image and marginalia. The print has been removed from its original acidic mount, cleaned, and de-acidified.

Huasteca Canyon
Drypoint, ca. 1925; edition of 25. Image size 7-13/16” x 9-15/16”; sheet size 10-3/8” x 12-1/16”. The image depicts the dramatic terrain approximately 12 miles west of Monterrey, Mexico and was exhibited at the Joseph Pennell Memorial Exhibition in Washington, D.C. in 1927, first organized and staged by the Print Club of Philadelphia in 1926. Titled, numbered, and signed in pencil by the artist in the lower margin. Very good overall condition with faint background toning. There are two paper losses on the right hand margin of the sheet well away from the image. The print has been removed from its original acidic mount, cleaned, and de-acidified.
