Kenneth Steel (1906 – 1970)
Water colorist, printmaker, and poster designer Kenneth Steel was born in Sheffield, England and trained at the Sheffield College of Art. He produced landscapes and street scenes, designed a number of memorable posters for the British Railways, and produced over 40 line engravings & drypoints during his working career. Both his mother and wife fell victim to a German bombing attack on Sheffield but Steel survived, remarried, and worked until his death at Lodge Moor, Sheffield.
