Born in Riga, Latvia, Nat Lowell emigrated to New York City and studied at the Art Students League with Carroll Beckwith, Gutzon Borglum, and Siddons Mowbray. He is best known for his detailed etchings of New York City and its landmarks. He taught at Hunter College and at the New School in New York. His works are represented in the Metropolitan Museum of Art, the Newark Museum, the New York Public Library, the New York Historical Society, the Albright-Knox Art Gallery and the Library of Congress.
