Marion Greenwood (1909 - 1970)
Marion Greenwood, a painter and printmaker, was born in Brooklyn, New York. She studied at the Art Students League of New York and at the Académie Colarossi in Paris. Upon completion of her studies, Greenwood produced lithographs paintings before moving to Mexico, where she produced a number of murals for the Mexican government before returning to the United States in 1936. She painted more murals here, and was then hired by the U. S. Army as a war artist, traveling to south Asia. Upon her return, Greenwood was a guest professor of fine arts a the University of Tennessee, where she painted a mural at the University Center there. She died in Woodstock, New York.
