Peter Paone (1936 - )
Peter Paone was born in Philadelphia and educated at the Philadelphia College of Art. He has taught at Pratt Institute in New York, The National Academy of Design in New York and since 1978 at The Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts in Philadelphia. He has received numerous grants and awards including two Louis Comfort Tiffany Foundation Grants, a Pennsylvania Council for the Arts Grant, the 172nd Annual Painting Prize from The National Academy of Design, and three years in London on a Guggenheim Foundation Fellowship. His work has been featured in many solo exhibitions in both the United States and Europe. His paintings, drawings and prints are held in the collections of institutions including The Museum of Modern Art, New York; The Victoria and Albert Museum and The British Museum, London; The National Gallery of Art and the Library of Congress, Washington, DC; The Philadelphia Museum of Art; The Art Institute of Chicago; and the Yale University Art Gallery.
