Amelia Bauerle (1873 - 1916)
Illustrator, etcher, and painter Amalie Mathilde Bauerle, better known as Amelia Bowerley, was the daughter of German artist Karl Wilhelm Bauerle and was born in Bayswater, a district of London. Bauerle studied at the South Kensington School of Art and the Slade School of Fine Art at the Kensington Museum in London before traveling in Italy and Germany. She exhibited paintings at the Royal Academy from 1897 until her death, and also exhibited in Paris and in the United States. Her illustrations were strongly influenced by the Art Nouveau style.
